New Ing Lodge offers bed and breakfast, dorm style rooms and camping in the Eastern Fells on the edge of the Lake District and the Eden Valley in Cumbria. We are positioned in Shap, on Wainwright's coast to coast and the Westmorland Way, and are easily accessible for the Eastern Fells of the Lake District, The Howgills and The Pennines. New Ing Lodge was a working farm up until the late 1980's but as far as records can be found, it has also been a Coach House/ Guest House since 1820.

We have a strong local / enviromental policy that we feel we should tell you about. We know that buying local means fresh produce, far better taste and superior quality. We only use local produce from the saugage on our breakfast plates to the soaps in our showers. Below is a list of all the company we use and the distance from thier door to ours.

Starfruits www.starfruits.co.uk- Breakfast mustrooms from Ireland, tomatos from Blackpool sold for our local Fruit & Veg firm. 12 miles

Vista Veg www.vistaprojects.co.uk - All onions & some of our potatoes. All grown within 14miles of our door.

Tirril Brewery www.camrawestmorland.org/breweries - Top ales, from time to time we have a cask beers from Tirril.

Hesket Newmarket Beers www.hesketbrewery.co.uk - A selection of the beers we have onsite from Hesket, all bottled and brewed within 24 miles of our door.

Whitestone Farm 01931 714478 - All our milk on site comes from Whitesones, not even 5mils from door to door.

Loveleigh www.howloveleigh.co.uk - There is more often than not a Jam on the breakfast plate that is produced from Leigh-ann who lives at New Ing and cares for our herb garden that has mint, sage, rosemary and potatoes. Again yummyumm

We display & sell John Williams art work who is part of the Patterdale Mounatin Rescue Team www.mountainrescue.org.uk. We have jsut started to stock artwork from a guest who stayed withus in July 2011, Perran Bateman. www.perranspics.co.uk. He has gifted us artwork to put on the walls to sell on his behalve with all monies raised goes directly to Patterdale Mounatin Rescue.

We are within 200yards of the Post Office, Supermarket, Fish & Chip Shop and Pubs. There is also local attraction Sleddale Hall from cult film Withnail and I (1987) starring Richard E Grant, Paul McGann and Richard Griffiths which was filmed at Wet Sleddale reservoir, 2 km from Shap.
