Here are our current award;
Businesses opting to join Green Tourism are assessed by a qualified grading advisor against a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management, biodiversity and more. In September 2011 New Ing Lodge met the required standard to receive a Silver award. Following the installation of our new Bio Mass Boiler we were awarded reassessed and upgrade to the Gold Award in April 2013. Click here to see the full report.
Cumbria Business Environment Network have an Environmental Management System which we had to demonstrate that we are implementing. Our business met the criteria and will continue to meet its legal and Environmental Policy requirements. New Ing Lodge met all the environmental policies criteria and has continues to do so since becoming a member of CBEN in September 2011.
In October 2012 we were awarded 'The Above & Beyond Award' by Nurture Lakeland, which recognises a business that integrates responsible tourism into numerous aspects of its operation. We have tirelessly worked to include responsible tourism initiatives in the renovation and restoration of our guest house, whether that be water saving devices, energy efficiency initiatives and biomass boilers, or the raising of our own pigs. Additionally, we also take part in Visitor Giving for Orton Community Woodland and we are strong ambassador for responsible tourism within its industry.
Our Pie Maker, Craig Hennessey, is the 2011 British Pub Pie Champion. He prepares all of our meals on site for our guests to enjoy. Costing only £7 for a main meal we think this is great value for money! Visit this link to have a look at him receiving his award!
New Ing Lodge is a member of Nurture Eden – a unique, award-winning organisation, inspiring people to care for Cumbria’s natural environment through responsible tourism.
