I had an awesome stay at new ing lodge, i stayed in the dormatory room and went down the local pub and had a wicked night the accomodation was comfortable and the staff where nice and helpfull and gave me an awesome meal. Loved it!!

Climbing

Local Indoor Climbing Walls

Kendal Wall offers climbing for first timers or experienced climbers alike. The wall is 15 miles from our door and well well recommended.

Opening times are 16.00-22.00 Mon, 10.00-22.00 Tues-Fri, 10.00- 19.00 Sat, Sun & Bank Holidays. Ask Jamie for details.

Penrith Wall has a 8m leading wall. Cost is £4.10 at all times.

Local Outdoors Routes

 Jamie's first ever winter route, only 10 minutes drive from the door at TebaySettle Earth boulders provide an easy grade circuit in the beautiful setting of Longsleddale. (20mins drive from the door at New Ing to the start of the walk in)

Approach: Park at Sadgill in Longlseddale and walk up the main track until level with Buckbarrow crag. See the FRCC ‘Buttermere and Eastern Crags’ guide. Once past the stile for Buckbarrow crag cross the wall on the left at a gate, cross the river / gorge and head up to the splitter boulders.
The boulders are level with Buckbarrow crag on the opposite side of the gorge. Appx 25 mins walk.

Winter Climbs

Tebay

The Howgills-

Cautley Spout- A magnifificent frozen waterfall/ gauge visible from the A683 Sedbergh- Kirkby Stephen road on the east flank of the Calf Fell, altitude 350m Enter the gauge low down and climb easily to the main pitch. This  is some 30 m in height and is best tackled from the left to centre. There follows a number of shorter, easier but delightful pitches.
