Char, Scott, Adam and Leigh Ann at Beacon Hill Monutent 634 099We are situated directly on the Coast to Coast route and the Westmorland Way, making us ideal for an overnight stop over. Travelling from the east you will normally reach our bed and breakfast in Shap on the 6th day, we are the first b&b in Shap village which may make all the difference after walking 17 miles and climbing the highest peak of the walk!

We are situated in an ideal location for both enthusiast and novice walkers looking for a shorter walking holiday, there are many famous routes accessible within a short driving distance (including Kidsty pike, Striding edge and high cup nick) and some directly from the door (including the 3 rings of Shap). There are also many smaller and easier, yet just as beautiful, routes close by. We can provide maps and advice on routes if required.

The Westmorland Way

The scenic Westmorland Way is a 95 mile walk through the old county of that name, which now forms the south eastern segment of Cumbria.

A relatively low-level route across the historic county of Westmorland and the Lake District National Park, it follows footpaths, tracks and country lanes along river valleys and across farmland and the open fells via Shap, Pooley Bridge, Patterdale, Grasmere, Troutbeck and Kendal to reach Morecambe Bay.

Please visit The Westmorland Way for more information on the walk, including a virtual map and a comprehensive listing of accommodation along the way.
